At level 0, we have 16 cards.

“Café Maid” Honoka Kousaka is a (very expensive and awesome) vanilla!

“Best Clothing” Honoka Kousaka gives other Honokas you control +500 power. You can also brainstorm for 1 stock and resting: salvage a [Music] character per CX revealed.

Honoka, Awakened Memories gets +1500 power as long as you control 1 or fewer other characters.

When you play Honoka, Shocking Truth, you can discard a CX to salvage a Honoka.

When “Heart of Flame” Honoka attacks, your other character in the middle of your center stage gets +1500 power and +1 level until end of turn.

At level 1, we have 13 cards.

“Feeling Happy Eating with Finger” Honoka Kousaka has a 0 stock +1500 power Backup ability.

“Candle Night” Honoka Kousaka gets +1000 power as long as you control 3 or more other [Music] characters. When she attacks, you can return 2 characters from your waiting room to your deck (and shuffle). If you do, she gets +2000 power until end of turn.

“Door to Dreams” Honoka has character encore, and gets +2000 power as long as every character you control is a Honoka.

“Going Out Together♪” Honoka can’t be played if you control 2 or fewer [Music] characters.

Happy New Year ☆ can’t be played if you don’t control a Honoka. When you play it, you can salvage a Honoka.

At level 2, we have 7 cards.

“Christmas Date” Honoka Kousaka gets +500 power for each other [Music] character you control. When she reverses a character in battle, you may pay 1 stock. If you do, you can salvage a “Happy maker!” Honoka Kousaka (a level 3 character).

“KiRa-KiRa Sensation” Honoka Kousaka has a 1 stock +3000 power Backup ability, and a change ability: at the start of your CX phase, you can pay 2 stock, and discard a card to change her into a “Happy maker!” Honoka Kousaka from your waiting room.

Honoka, Image Change gives all other Honokas you control +1000 power, and has a +1000 power revenge trigger.

At level 3, we have 6 cards.

“Summer Festival Date” Honoka Kousaka has a heal trigger on play. You can pay 1 and discard a card to give her +3500 power and “When this reverses a character in battle, you may put that character on top of its owner’s deck” until end of turn. (You can use this ability as many times as you want as long as you have the cards and stock to pay, but if she puts a character on top, it’ll only happen once)

“Happy maker!” Honoka Kousaka has a heal trigger on play, and can’t side attack. She has a CX combo with Blue Sky on the Other side of the Cherry Tree: on attack, you can choose a level 2 or lower character your opponent controls and put it into the waiting room. (Center stage or back stage is targetable with this ability, but it is targeted)

The CX spread is a 4/4 split between 2k1 + 2 soul and 1k1 + gate effects and triggers respectively.

How do we use this deck?

Audri, take it away!

A: This deck was built for two things – power and hand size. Honoka cards really reward you with high power levels and good card accessibility. At level 0, you generally try to get an Awakened Memories Honoka and a Best Clothing Honoka to go for as long as you can.

The deck starts its damage at level 1. Door to Dreams Honoka often comes out as an 8000 or 8500 power character, and with hand encore, she stays on stage until bounced. If ever reversed, just use a level 0 to encore her and keep going. Make sure to get good use out of “Candle Light” Honoka and her shuffle ability. This allows you to get another 7000 power hitter to clear your opponent’s characters turn after turn.

M: And, you can also shuffle soul triggers back into your deck if you want to get extra damage in the later game and so happen to have one or more out!

A: At level 2, you have 2 choices. You can play the 2/1 Christmas Date to salvage your Happy maker! Honoka. If you don’t need to heal or setup the 2k1 CX combo, Image Change Honoka is the way I prefer to go. Having both options can help when dealing with disruption. Bringing out an early Happy maker! can destroy any nuisance; using it to remove level assists and other characters like it is one of the best ways to use the combo.

“Summer Festival Date” Honoka is your finisher. Use her aggressively to topdeck reversed characters, which should turn into the damage you need to win the game. Because there are no burn effects or punish burn effects in the deck, stick by my level 3 motto: “When in doubt, heal it out.” This just means that if you can heal and you have more than 0 cards in your clock, heal!

Why Honoka?

Audri: How can your waifu not be Honoka?

Think of it like this: you’re in high school, you’re single but want to be with someone more than anything. You have a little daydream as you walk to your locker, but standing right there is that perfect someone you’ve always thought about. Hair, perfect. Eyes, beautiful.

… and then you wake up and your mom is yelling at you to do chores.

Well, fortunately for me, I never really woke up from that, and therefore, Honoka! Throughout the series I’ve seen her deal with a lot of challenges I can identify with with the Illiana WS group – she might fail at times but she never stops.

So I’ll ask again – how can I give up perfection?

So you’ve read HONK but we need your votes to decide on who’s next! (Didn’t see tomato? Check our YouTube channel!)
