Warning! To those who have not seen 劇場版 魔法少女まどか☆マギカ叛逆の物語 (Madoka Magica: Rebellion), this deck tech contains spoilers! Please do not read this deck tech until you have viewed the requisite material.
Welcome to the 9th CX’s Weiss Schwarz deck techs! For this article, we are going to make sure
the doctor Homura is given her due time in the spotlight.
This glorious deck tech to HomuHomu is brought to you by Josh.
Josh is the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Hokage from the Naruto CCG, and the Squad 11 Captain for the Bleach CCG. In his ‘professional’ card gaming career, he has amassed enough money from those card games and Magic: the Gathering to build approximately infinite HomuHomu Shrines, because true devotion comes from the heart and not material wealth. (Though in reality he has won quite a good amount, most of which has been
wasted on Madoka Magica stuff tithed to the Church of Madoka.) He is also a moderator of r/Homura, the most glorious HomuHomu shrine on the Internet because it is on the very front page.
And yes, this deck has won several local tournaments.
For this deck tech, we bring you a 100% Homura deck list.
[This is your last spoiler warning!!]

Because this deck uses the new promo, it is actually ineligible for use in EN events, until the promo is printed in English.
At level 0, we have 17 characters.
Dark Haired Girl, Homura, is a vanilla 3000 power character.
Fair and Beautiful, Homura, can return two character cards from your waiting room to your deck to gain +2000 power for the turn. This HomuHomu also has the
Shaft Shift ability.
Homura Watches Over has a Brainstorm ability that lets you rest two characters and pay 1 stock to tutor for a character for each CX revealed.
Homura Cares for Madoka gets +1500 power if you control another character with “Madoka” in the name. (Strangely, it works if you have more than one of this card out at a time)
Presented with neither irony nor comment
Everyone’s favorite Moemura, Transfer Student, Homura, gives characters in front +500 power.
At level 0, indoctrinating the opponent is key. Building a pile of HomuHomus in one’s stock is of utmost importance to ensure more HomuHomus will be available to play in subsequent turns and levels. If your opponent does not understand the theme of the deck by the end of level 0, the key is to not despair. Your opponent will see the error of his/her ways by level 1 (we hope)!
At level 1, we have 13 characters.
Battle with Walpurgisnacht, Homura, has an ability that triggers upon attacking: you look at the top two cards of your deck, put one back on top and the other into the waiting room, in that order. This means that if you attack with only one card left, it won’t do anything.
Homura’s Lonely Battle has a CX combo with ‘Time Manipulation’ that allows you to pay 2 stock when you play it. If you do, you can choose a character in your opponent’s back row as the battling character of a frontal attack (meaning you cannot side attack something in the back row). It also has hand encore.
Interestingly, you can only use up to four copies combined of this card and A Lonely Fight, Homura, because the names in Japanese are the same.
Obviously, this was a terrible oversight, and we have reason to
hope believe that the makers of the company will issue an apology soon.
After all, one cannot have enough Homura.
Homura’s Determination can Change during your draw phase for one stock into Magical Girl of Time, Homura. You can also rest it to give one of your
characters Homuras +1000 power until the end of your opponent’s victim’s convert’s turn.
Homura’s Hidden Feelings can only be played if you have 3 or more other [Magic] characters.
At level 1, Homura’s fight truly begins. Remind your opponent that if he or she has not heard of Homura, that he or she has been living under a rock and should really get out more.
At level 2, we have 9 characters.
Magical Girl of Time, Homura, gets +1000 power as long as you have 5 or more stock. When it becomes reversed, you may discard a [Magic] character and send it to memory, then return it to the stage at the beginning of your next draw phase.
You may recognize Time Regressor Homura from previous deck techs. If you have 5 or fewer cards in your deck when you play it, you shuffle your waiting room into your deck, and all your characters get +2000 power for the turn. This ability does not incur the ‘refresh point’ penalty.
Homura’s Sad Resignation has a CX combo with ‘I won’t rely on anyone anymore’. When it attacks, if you have no other rested characters (including the back row), it gains +7000 power for the turn.
In this deck’s first drafts, no level 3 characters were used because there was nothing at level 3 that had a large impact on the game.
Homura, Hope and Resignation is here to solve all those problems. Did that Kyubey just give you the wrong look? When you play this Homura, you can pay 1 stock when it reverses a character in battle to put that character into clock. You can also rest a [Magic] character to give it +1500 power for the turn.
How do we use this deck?
The first step is believing.
You must show the power of your devotion to HomuHomu from the first turn. Even before the game, you can declare that the deck you are using is THE HomuHomu Deck™.
Your attire shows your devotion to HomuHomu. Be mindful of this.
To quote Josh:
Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their waifus.
Then do it over again, as many times as it takes.
For those interested in a “more serious” look at how to play the deck:
At level 0, build stock and trade with your opponent 1 for 1 as much as possible. Because Homura starts out very weak, it’s all about waiting for one
season level to get to level 1 before the fun really begins.
Presumably, once your opponent has beaten you sufficiently to level 1, you have some stock to play Homura’s Determination and Change to Homura, Magical Girl of Time.
If you have a Homura, you must attack. It is just a law.
And if your opponent still hasn’t fallen by the time you get to level 3…
